Sisters & Success
Updated: Wednesday, January 9, 2008 11:46 AM PST

The Marinos family had a lot to celebrate at the end of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics' volleyball season in December.

From their home of Three Rivers both Janelle and Tiffany Marinos earned Valley Titles with Exeter Union High School's (EUHS) winning volleyball programs and went on to succeed in a collegiate environment.

The sisters went from competing over Exeter records to scouting NAIA teams for each other over the past two seasons. Between the two of them, the pair has earned a National Title, All-American recognition, All-Region honors and a Regional Player of the Year award.

By the end of the 2007 season, Janelle, the older of the two siblings, set 10 school records in kills, attacks and service aces at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Janelle, a 2003 EUHS graduate, spent her first two years of college at California State University at Stanislaus before moving to Daytona Beach to join the Eagles in 2005. In 2005, the outside hitter was named the NAIA Region XIV Player of the Year as she set the single season record in kills with 691.

Janelle managed to rebound from an ACL knee injury in 2006 and returned to the court in 2007 to play in 103 games, record 272 kills, 36 aces, 316 digs and 23 blocks for the season. She helped the Eagles to a third place finish in the Florida Sun Conference with a 10-4 record. She finished her career at the semifinal round of the conference tournament where the Eagles just missed a bid to the NAIA National Tournament.
