'JUG fills Exeter with Country
Updated: Friday, April 18, 2008 8:24 PM PDT

This summer Exeter City Park will play host to one of the biggest concert series in the valley with KJUG bringing their Summer Concert Series to town. The four free country concerts will take place on weeknights once a month from June through September and feature a new Nashville recording country artist.

The series was held at the Horizon Outlet Center in Tulare the last several years. After given the choice to move the event Westcoast Broadcasting Inc. Senior Advertising Executive and Exeter resident, Amy Kehrmeyer-Moore worked to bring the series to City Park.

“I love the community of Exeter,” said Kehrmeyer-Moore. “It's exciting to bring this to the city and bring people who have never been to Exeter before.”

A family event, the concert gives attendees what Kehrmeyer-Moore calls “an upclose and intimate evening with a national recording artist.” The concerts last about on average 45 minutes to an hour, with many artists staying afterwards to sign autographs. Attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Past concerts included Emerson Drive, Mark Wills, Jason Michael Carroll, Chris Young, John Corbett, Rocky Lynne, Brian McComas, Trent Tomlinson and Keith Anderson.

No alcohol will be served at the event, but food vendors will be present. The series has been known to draw large crowds in the past and Kehrmeyer-Moore hopes that will continue this year.

“In the past we've had 900 to 3,000 people attending the concerts,” said Kehrmeyer-Moore. “It's going to be an awesome lineup and great for the community.”

Sponsors of the event include KJUG 106.7 FM, Tricia Kirksey Real Estate, Monarch Ford and the City of Exeter. KJUG will announce the series' lineup in June.
