Libraries hope kids catch reading bug

All libraries will be closed for Fourth of July holiday

Exeter Branch

The Exeter Branch Library presents ìCatch the Reading Bugî at 10:30 a.m. on Fridays now through July 25.

The 2008 Summer Reading Program is open to all children and parents. It will include story time, crafts and educational, yet entertaining activities.

The Exeter Branch Library is located at 230 East Chestnut in Exeter. For more information call 592-5361.

Ivanhoe Branch

Catch the Reading Bug this Summer at the Ivanhoe Branch Library at 2:30 p.m. every Thursday afternoon June 19 through July 24.

Registration for this yearís Summer Reading Program has started. Catch the Reading Bug with the Ivanhoe Branch Library. Program starts on June 19th where weíll have story time featuring the book Bugs for Lunch by Margery Facklam and Anansi the Spider by Gerald McDermott, as well as craft and have a live earthworm race! June 26 Singer/Songwriter Oklin Bloodworth will be visiting the Ivanhoe Library to give a special performance at 2:20 p.m. June 26. You wonít want to miss this!

We will have a party on our last day-July 24. The Ivanhoe Branch Library is located at 15964 Heather in Ivanhoe. For more information call 798-1264.

Lindsay Branch

Go buggy this summer at the Lindsay Branch Library at 11 a.m. every Wednesday from June 18 through July 23. Enjoy crafts, handouts including book bags, bookmarks, stickers and coloring pages, buggy treats and great books!

The featured book is Beetle McGrady Eats Bugs! The Lindsay Branch Library is located at 165 North Gale Hill Street in Lindsay. For more information call 562-3021.

Springville Branch

Go buggy this summer at the Springville Branch Library at 2:30 p.m. every Wednesday from June 18th through July 23rd. On July 23 famed childrenís entertainer Oklin Bloodworth will perform at 2:30 p.m. The Springville Branch Library is located at 35800 Highway 190 in Springville. For more information call 539-2624.

Strathmore Branch

The 2008 Tulare County Library Summer Reading Program will come to the Strathmore Branch Library at 10:30 a.m. every Tuesday June 17 and through July 22. Kids will go ìbuggyî this summer enjoying educational and entertaining stories, songs and crafts. All children and parents are encouraged to attend. Childrenís entertainer Oklin Bloodworth will perform at 10:30 a.m. July 22. The Strathmore Branch Library is located at 19646 Road 230 in Strathmore. For more information call 568-1087

Three Rivers Branch

Woodlake Branch

Thereís something for everyone this summer at the Woodlake Branch Library! Our Summer Reading Program for kids ages 3-12 will take place every Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. beginning June 11 thru July 16. Signups for the Childrenís Summer Reading Program are going on now.

Go to the Woodlake library and sign up at the circulation desk. Must be 3 to 12 years of age. Pick up your reading log and book bag when you sign up. Each Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. we will read a bug related book and work on a small craft . Also, complete your reading log for that week and have it stamped to receive small prize.

Performer Oklin Bloodworth will stop by the Woodlake Branch Library to help kick off the summer reading program this year. Woodlakeís small children wonít want to miss Oklin, who is famous for entertaining children throughout the Valley with silly songs. Come help us rock the house June 25th at 3:00 pm.

Sign up for the Teen Summer Reading Program going on now. Go to the Woodlake library and sign up at the circulation desk. Must be 13-18 years of age. Pick up your log book and pencil, complete the log book for that week and receive a ticket for a drawing at the end of the summer reading program. To increase your chances to win have your reading log stamped weekly and maybe your win the mystery prize!
